Ennerdale Water and Smithy Beck Falls
Start the walk at Bowness Knott car park, on the north-western side of Ennerdale. Walk to the information board, here you’ll find the path to begin the walk. Follow the path onto the track road to the Youth Hostel, turn left here. The lake will be visible in front of you and there are picnic benches for snack stops.
Follow the track past the peninsula until you reach a turning left into the woodland. The turning is marked with a red arrow. Turn off here. Keep following the woodland path uphill until you reach a footbridge. Cross the footbridge.
Keep going along the path and you’ll soon hear the water at Smithy Beck. You will come to a fork in the path, turn left and approach a bridge with the waterfall adjacent to it. From here you can retrace your steps back to Ennerdale.
