Exeter Underground Passages

The Exeter Underground Passages came to be in the medieval times and were created to bring clean water from springs into the city. The city is the only one in the UK to have passages of this kind, and exploring them is a memorable experience!

In order to explore the Exeter Underground Passages, you’ll need to embark on a guided tour. Before this, visitors can look forward to learning even more about the passages at the interpretation centre.

During the tour, you’ll get the chance to see a range of eye-catching displays, such as a life-size, talking medieval man, artefacts recovered from the Princesshay archaeological dig and more.

The medieval passages are open all year around and welcome adults, children, concessions and group bookings. It’s a truly unique way to explore Exeter and is bound to excite!

A memorable and unusual experience awaits at the Exeter Underground Passages…
