Directions

  • After parking, begin the Horse Head Moor and Deepdale walk by taking the bridleway at Raisgill farmhouse signed for Hlaton Gill. Here you will encounter the first steep climb of the walk, as the path zig-zags across the Hagg common land
  • As this section levels out, make sure that Hagg Beck is on your left-hand side until you reach the gate at the top – those looking for panoramic views can take a slight detour and climb to the summit of the fell
  • Turn right through the gate and follow the wall towards the white trig point. Stop and admire the lookout across the Three Peaks from here, before returning to the gate and heading left through it
  • Hike for just over a mile across the ridge with the wall on your left-hand side, and cross a gate, stile and a ruined wall along the way
  • As you come across the gate on your left, pass through it and turn right. Continue along this footpath as it leads you to Beckermonds
  • Discover the banks of the River Wharfe and turn right on the Dales Way path just before the bridge which leads you towards Deepdale
  • When you reach Deepdale, take the bridge and turn right into the small hamlet. After a short while, take the path to the right heading to Yockenthwaite. As you come to Yockenthwaite, head over the stone bridge and back to your starting point
