Ingleborough

Ingleborough

The route to the summit of Ingleborough is a popular walk for visitors to the Carnforth region. The summit is a broad plateau around half a mile in circumference and features an Ordnance Survey trig point at the highest point.

Along the northern and eastern edges of the plateau you’ll find the tumbled remains of a wall that was once part of an Iron Age hill fort. Ingleborough is geologically significant with a belt of carboniferous limestone as well as layers of harder limestone sandwiched between softer rocks.

The view from here is spectacular and includes Manod Mawr in Snowdonia in the distance.
