Directions

  1. Begin with your back to the Lifeboat Station and turn right to go uphill, following the road until it begins to bear right, and you reach the large stone house with two chimneys. Bear left at the house and follow the Coast Path signs to reach the tarmac road.
  2. When you reach the entrance to Port Gaverne, turn left. After 30 metres, turn right to go up the tarmac lane and then turn immediately left before the hotel, still following signs for the Coast Path.
  3. When you reach the top of the driveway, bear right and then left, joining driveway and then a grass cliff path. Continue to follow the Coast Path signs.
  4. Upon reaching the cross junction, continue straight ahead to follow the signs for Trebarwith.
  5. Cross the bridge and then bear left across a second bridge. Follow up the steps before bearing left, following the lower track uphill.
  6. Pass through the wooden gate and then bear left, keeping the fence to your left as you go around the cattle field. Take the steps down towards the edge of the village of Trebarwith Strand.
  7. Turn left over the stile and follow the main road by the pub through Trebarwith Strand.
  8. Continue straight along the road, before heading down the steps towards the slipway. Bear right at the slipway following the Coast Path sign out of the village.
  9. At the junction, follow the middle path up the steps. Follow the signs for Tintagel, ignoring signs to the right.
  10. Once you’ve passed a wire fence on the left, bear left at the fork in the path to go along the rocky route. Continue past the old quarry before crossing a stone stile. Turn immediately left across two more stiles. Follow the path until reaching a wooden gate.
  11. Pass through the gate and then bear left at the fork in the path. Go past the Youth Hostel and bear left uphill towards the church.
  12. At the fork in the path bear right towards the church car park. Turn left to join the gravel path with the church on your right.
  13. At the path junction, turn right following the sign for Tintagel to leave the Coast Path.
  14. Cross over the wooden footbridge and then bear right to go uphill, following the signs for Pedestrian Route to Town.
