During this stroll you will be introduced to a sweep of heather moorland, as well as an opportunity for catching glimpses of relics of a booming ironstone industry past, including mines, kilns and a moorland railway.

Directions

  • The walk begins at the carpark which is situated at the top of Chimney ironstone mining heritage of the Rosedale Bank. After leaving the carpark, gradually climb the path past ironstone kilns to find the disused railway line.
  • Follow the railway line all the way to the viewpoint, where you will be rewarded by breath-taking views. The bench here was inspired by the ironstone mining heritage of the Rosedale area, with local sculptor, Vivien Mousdell who came up with vision for this seat.
  • From here, you can choose to continue along the railway which goes beyond the viewpoint or turn around to head back to the car.
