Directions

  1. Begin at St Bees Beach and follow along St Bees Promenade with the sea on your left.
  2. Continue along the RSPB St Bees Head where you will join the Coast to Coast Trail.
  3. Descend towards Fleswick Bay, soon passing St Bees Lighthouse and Fog Horn stations.
  4. Head East along the top of the cliff before heading inland towards Sandwith Quarry. Continue underneath the railway line running from Carlisle to Lancaster. Follow along the walkway before joining Church Street to reach Cleator.
  5. After Cleator, you will reach the hill of Dent Fell. Venture through the forest and out onto open fell.
  6. Descend the hill to Nannycatch Beck.
  7. Continue along the remote track past Nannycatch while remaining beside Cold Fell to soon join the Lake District National Park.
  8. Follow the route North and join Cold Fell Road, bearing right at the end of the road to bring you to Ennerdale Bridge.
  9. After 0.3 mile take the first left to reach the Fox and Hounds Inn where you can enjoy a well-deserved beverage.
