Tŵr Mawr – Llanddwyn Island

Tŵr Mawr Lighthouse is conical shaped structure sitting on Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey. Built in the early 1800s, the lighthouse stands at 82ft above sea level and was visible to passing ships from seven miles away. In 1976, Tŵr Bach replaced Tŵr Mawr as the beacon for Llanddwyn.

These days the 19th century, grade II listed building is a popular spot for visitors. The main footpaths on Ynys Llanddwyn lead to Tŵr Mawr and it’s situated just a mile and a half from the main car park on the forest toll road, making it easily accessible.

From Llanddwyn, you can enjoy picturesque views of the Menai Straits and the rocky headland in the distance. Just remember to check tide times as the island is inaccessible during high tide.

Admire this beautiful spectacle on the scenic shores of Llanddwyn Island…
