Woodhorn Museum

Pit buildings remain at Woodhorn Colliery to tell stories of their extraordinary history. Explore the exhibits to learn more about the workings of the site and the people who worked here.

The engaging and interactive displays tell the story of coal mining in Northumberland through the eyes of the people of Ashington as they describe their lives in a coal town.

There is a children’s play area, gift store, and wonderful café within the Woodhorn Museum, all of which source local products throughout.
