Overlooked by the splendour of Cardiff Castle and bordered by the River Taff, Bute Park is a peaceful sanctuary often referred to as “the city’s green heart.” Spanning over 130 acres, the borders of this Cardiff landmark are brimming with flowers, its arboretum has over 3,000 beautiful tree species, and wildlife is absolutely everywhere. What better place to unfurl a blanket, tuck into a cute picnic hamper, and let love bloom?

Fancy a taste of the Mediterranean Riviera? Take an hour-long private cruise the waters of Cardiff Bay and beautiful River Ely in Baia Vita, a sleek, retro, Italian-style motorboat. Head aboard, take in the wonderful sights with the breeze through your hair, listen to music of your choice (we’d personally recommend some Bublé crooning sweet nothings in in Italian) and sip a little fizz. Bellissima!

Live your own fairy tale

castell coch (1)

Castle Coch is a jewel of the 19th century Gothic Revival period that will have you feeling as though you’ve been transported right into a Brothers Grimm story. As well as having featured in Doctor Who, the castle was also used as the location of Cackle’s Academy in the popular 90s kids’ TV show, The Worst Witch. At only a half-hour’s train journey from the centre of Cardiff, it’s well worth the trip to make your very own magical memories.

They say music is the food of love, so be sure to catch a spectacular performance at the Welsh Millennium Centre. Hauntingly beautiful concerts from the resident Welsh National Opera, classic musicals, gigs by ground-breaking and popular artists – there’s something for every couple to enjoy.
