The small village of Greenodd rests on the estuary of the River Leven, within the Crake Valley, on the borders of the Lake District National Park. Once an 18th century shipbuilding centre and a significant commercial port, exporting locally quarried limestone, gunpowder and copper, Greenodd today is effectively a cul-de-sac with a selection of shops and a local pub, The Ship, which provides a visible link to the village’s history. The ancient market town of Ulverston is just 4 miles away, famous for its street markets and festivals, and boasts a wide range of shops, pubs and leisure facilities. It is also home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world.
