Travel to Cardigan by road

Cardigan Bay is accessible from both the North West and South West of England.

From the North West, take the M56 to Ellesmere Port where it merges with the A55. Exit at junction 38 and head southbound on the A483 until you reach the White Lion Pub at Llynclys. Then turn right onto the A495 until you reach the A458, head southbound until you reach the A489 junction. Turn right and follow the A489 until you reach Machynlleth, join the A487 which takes you into Cardigan itself.

Travel to Cardigan by train

There is no train station in Cardigan, but passengers can catch the train to Aberystwyth and then take the onward TrawsCymru T5 bus service to Cardigan.

Trains to Aberystwyth are available from Birmingham New Street where passengers can connect to both North West and South East services.

The bus service from Aberystwyth to Cardigan takes approximately one hour but passengers can view the stunning scenery of the Cambrian Coast along the route.

Travel to Cardigan by Ferry

Passengers from Ireland can get to Cardigan by using the StenaLine Ferry service from Rosslare to Fishguard or the Irish Ferry service from Rosslare to Pembroke.

The journey from Fishguard takes approximately 30 mins by car. The journey from Pembroke Dock takes approximately 1 hour.

Both ferry services run twice daily with the crossing taking approximately 4 hours in each direction.
