Ullswater

The 7.5-mile lake of Ullswater enjoys the beautiful scenery of the Ullswater Valley and neighbouring fells. It rests on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park, near Penrith and Glenridding.

If you’re a lover of the outdoors, a visit to Ullswater is an absolute must! With glistening waters for miles, sights of Aira Force Waterall and the nearby Helvellyn, it’s a dreamy day out.

If watersports are your thing, why not hire equipment from the close-by Glenridding Sailing Centre? Boats are available for all ages and abilities, along with guided taster sessions.

If you really want to get up close and personal with the lake, be sure to go for a wild swim! You can try this alone or go with a group; Suzanna Swims is a fantastic swimming organiser to do this with. She offers guided swims in many lakes of the national park, including Ullswater.

If you’d prefer a laid-back outing on Ullswater, then boarding one of the Ullswater Steamers is a must. The cruises travel between Pooley Bridge and Glenridding while also connecting to many lakeside trails.

Come to Ullswater for an idyllic day out on the water to remember…
