    Amanda and Richard were absolutely amazing and helpful. House was spotless clean (big kudos during this trying time specially). House had anything you could wish for! The property

The Retreat is a well-presented two-storey property, semi-detached to the owner’s main house, situated in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the bustling town centre of Falmouth.

Stylishly presented throughout and recently refurbished to a high standard, this bolthole makes for a wonderful, romantic escape for couples looking to enjoy the delights of South Cornwall.

To the front of the cottage is a well-equipped kitchen, where you will find everything you could possibly need to create your own delicious meals – including an in-built wine-cooler – before heading outside to enjoy an alfresco meal on the patio amidst the balmy Cornish palms.

Spend your evenings in the charming sitting room, decorated in a maritime theme and boasting two electric reclining sofas, along with a large flat-screen TV to catch up on your favourite programmes.

Upstairs plays host to the king-size bedroom featuring ample storage for your personal belongings: curl up on the loveseat with a novel and take in the views of the beautiful landscaped garden and across the valley towards Budock Water.

The generous bathroom features a separate bath and shower and leads onto a small dressing room/study so you can best decide how to prepare for your day.

The rear garden benefits from the sun all day long.While shared with the main house, guests have exclusive use of their clearly defined areas and benefit from uninterrupted views of the pool and garden which sets the tone for relaxing in this quiet retreat, set away from the busy scenes of popular beaches.The Retreat’s patio is perfect for alfresco dining, or for those seeking respite from the sun, unwind the awning and relax in the shade.

Guests also have exclusive use of their pebble beach, complete with two sun loungers, which is ideal for lounging poolside.The owners are also pleased to allow guests to use their pool: a real advantage when the Cornish beaches are packed and it is even heated during the summer months (June - August).

To the front of the property, The Retreat has an entrance discrete from the main house by means of its own private courtyard, accessed via a short flight of steps.It offers an additional seating area for guests and overlooks the guests’ parking space on the shared driveway.

Falmouth is also home to a number of beaches including Swanpool and Gyllyngvase: both are within walking distance and offer a range of watersports and beach activities to get involved in.When you fancy a break from walking, jump on the nearby branch line train to reach the National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle within minutes.Further afield, you may fancy exploring the glorious countryside of the Roseland Peninsula, the National Trust owned Glendurgan Garden and the picturesque village of St Mawes is not to be missed – just hop on a ferry!

Falmouth, with its magnificent natural harbour (the third largest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. The town's old harbour-side pubs, excellent shopping, art gallery and stunning National Maritime Museum simply complete the picture. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes). For nature lovers there is the Swanpool Nature Reserve, a lagoon and site of special scientific interest teeming with a variety of wildlife. Falmouth offers such a rich variety of landscape and attractions for people of all ages, it is sure to tempt you back time and again.
