“Yes. When we arrived the heating had not been put on so the cottage was freezing cold and felt slightly damp.”

We turned the wall panel heaters on but it took a while for the fabric of the building to warm up. Luckily, Wendy, the caretaker next door found us two plug in oil heaters which helped to warm us up... Then when we went to take a shower the electric shower unit was not working. We turned the wall panel heaters on but it took a while for the fabric of the building to warm up. Luckily, Wendy, the caretaker next door found us two plug in oil heaters which helped to warm us up... Then when we went to take a shower the electric shower unit was not working. We phoned the maintenance contact who managed to get an electrician to come to us the next afternoon, but we were 24 hours without washing facilities! From what we heard from the electrician the pull cord switch was stuck in the 'on' position and the wiring had melted back due to the heat in the unit.... So, to be honest the first 24 hours were not ideal. Other than that the cottage was fine for the two of us and we cannot express how helpful Wendy, Mal and Tracey were to make sure that the problems were sorted out quickly. If we had a recommendation it would be that the electric heaters are turned on in advance of guests, especially in the winter months.
