  • "The Forge was Quite hard to find as Sykes cottages was not on the sign, instead it was Harrods the name of the owners, this should be mentioned."

The weather was not on our side , but we still got out and about regardless. It was lovely to meet the owners Mum , the supply of goodies left was very much appreciated , will certainly return and recommend to others.

  • "A fabulous cottage, a perfect little oasis with the enclosed garden which was so important for me with my dog, but also the lovely grass area where she could play ball & the wooded glade area to wander through."

Inside was very spacious, very comfy beds & amazing shower with HOT water, great! On arrival we were welcomed by the host & nothing was too much trouble, scrumptious scones, jam & cream left for us too.

Everything you need is there. We had issues with travel and arrived later than planned but Rebecca still gave us a very warm welcome and the home made scones were welcomed indeed. We will be going back as it was perfect for what we wanted. Thank you Rebecca

  • "Lovely cottage that suited us and the dogs in a location that allowed us to explore in various directions."

Excellent welcome pack Would be good to have some instructions about how to recycle as we all need to do our bit whether on hol or home.

  • "This is lovely accommodation very clean and well equipped."

Large bedrooms both with lovely ensuite shower rooms. It had a small garden to sit in and was ideal for the dog. It is a short drive to Perranporth and to other smaller beaches. We did a lot of walking along the South West coastal path.

  • "The whole experience was excellent from start to finish."

Booking was straight forward and easy. We were kept informed throughout. A couple of days before we started our holiday the cottage owners called us to confirm and give us directions and contact numbers in case we incurred any problems. Upon arrival we were met and made very welcome and assisted with our luggage into the property, which was delightful! Very clean and immaculately maintained. We were helped with local knowledge ( shops, good places to eat and local attractions etc). We were also lucky with the weather so enjoyed our week in Cornwall immensely. The next time we plan to go away, Sykes will definitely be our first call!

About the location

PERRANPORTH

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.
