  • "Have stayed here many times ."

    It’s now becoming a little old fashioned after looking at some other properties that have the appearance of modern decor. We found this time a few mugs and plates were chipped, these should be replaced and also a small non stick frying pan would be . We would stay again as the property has lots of good points and the location is central.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at this property."

    The views from the upper floor are amazing . The snug is lovely with a really comfortable sofa. The kitchen was really well equipped with plenty of crockery and cutlery. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The property is up a steep hill so be prepared! We had the benefit of good weather so we had a really great week.

  • "The whole experience (apart from the weather) was excellent."

    Really nice house with a view that could have been improved by removing 2 trees ( only partly joking). The decor was nice and felt very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals for the family and had plastic cups etc.. for the kids. The bedrooms were light and clean and the en-suite was well looked after. Two minor points , the front door lock was extremely difficult to use, but reported this to Lakelovers at the end of our stay. Recycling was not available to this property/ area, but this wasn't explained and so we took our recycling back home with us.

    The views were great and the location excellent for walking to Bowness/Windermere ( although we didn't like the hill on the way back !) Only small issue is that there was no way to re-cycle anything

    Nice views from the upstairs living room. Well-equipped kitchen. Comfy beds and nice en-suite shower. The walk down into Bowness took 15-20 mins; it gets quite steep walking back!

You will find the utility area perfect storage for all your walking gear.

Head upstairs to the open plan sitting room and dining area with Juliette balcony and take in the stunning views over the Lakeland fells and Lake Windermere.

On the first floor you will also find a hidden gem; a separate snug with TV, games console and a selection of books, DVDs and CDs to relax at the end of the day or entertain the family.

Dine al fresco in the warmer months on the patio to the rear of the house and enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars.

Take a short walk from the property down to the heart of Bowness and explore the many shops, cafes and pubs.

Enjoy the view from the shores of Bowness and take a Lake Cruise to nearby Ambleside or Lakeside where you can also visit the Lakes Aquarium or take a ride on the steam train to Haverthwaite Railway.

Alternatively, hire a self-drive boat and take in Lake Windermere at your own pace.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away.
