Having not one but two beautiful coastlines to boast about, it’s little wonder that Devon is one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite Devon properties with a sea view, so that you can take in the sights and sounds of the coast without even having to step through the front door first.

Tom’s House, Berrynarbor

Set within the green meadows of a 100-acre farm, this charming cottage on the North Devon coast looks straight out onto the sea. As well as being able to wander the farm’s grounds, guests also have the luxury of their own private garden terrace that’s perfect for taking in the scenery whilst sitting back with a cool drink in hand.

Tom’s House also has a claim to fame as the former holiday home of acclaimed British actor Terry Thomas, who rose to fame during the 50s with his many film roles that saw him play an iconically dastardly dandy.

Topsail, Dartmouth

Overlooking the picturesque town of Dartmouth, Topsail is an immaculately stylish cottage set over three floors, just five-minutes walk from the sparkling waters of the Dart River which flows here into the sea.

With such an elevated hill position, the view over town towards the estuary and the hills beyond is simply wonderful, and you can take it all in from the comfort of the sun-filled balcony as you tuck into some delicious alfresco dining. Don’t mind if we do!

Old Chapel, Clovelly

This beautiful, converted chapel is chocked full of character and is located amid 10 private acres of meadowland by the sea, offering up stunning views over towards Lundy Island. With vaulted ceilings and eight-foot-high windows, it’s positively flooded with light.

After a day of exploring the Devon coast, what better than to curl up with a book from the library in the gallery snug, while admiring the scenery? Your holiday prayers have been answered!

 Wren Cottage, Berrynarbor

Wren Cottage is truly a must for lovers of the sea. It is one of small handful of quaint, unique properties located on a 35-acre farm on the headland of the North Devon Coast.  Most wonderfully of all, guests have full access to a private beach just 500 yards away – perfect for swimming in the crystal clear waters or whiling away the sunny hours in absolute tranquillity.

Being a working farm, there’s a herd of fluffy alpacas and plenty of other friendly farmyard animals too, so you’re welcome to help out at feeding time and meet the whole family!

From the beach, stroll along the magnificent coastal path to Watermouth Harbour and admire the Victorian grandeur of the local castle or explore the unspoilt charm of the nearby village of Berrynarbor, before returning to enjoy a dramatic sunset over Samson’s Bay. What more could you possibly want?

Wisteria Cottage, Hallsands

In the stunning surroundings of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wisteria Cottage sits at the top of a green valley looking over towards the sea and the fishing village of Hallsands.

As well as allowing you the chance to wander the owner’s woodland grounds, Wisteria Cottage has direct access to a footpath leading the short distance the shore and onwards to the South West Coast Path.

Why not tuck into a barbecue and enjoy the wonderful view on the garden seating area, followed by a blissful evening in front of the woodburning stove? It’s the stuff dream holidays are made of!
