The property

Located in a central position in the village of Hawkshead in the midst of the beautiful Lake District National Park is this three-storey mid-terrace property, Jessamine Cottage.

This property is new to holiday letting following a total refurbishment, so everything within the property is brand new.

Ideally suited to two couples seeking a relaxing break in this charming village, Jessamine Cottage presents contemporary style throughout the interior whilst retaining its quaint, traditional Lakeland cottage exterior.

The property is within easy reach of a host of attractions in the Lakes.

Be welcomed straight into the open-plan living space where you can relax in the sitting area before the gas stove-effect fire, or perch in the cute window seat, with a Smart TV to entertain and soft seating for four.

Gather at the dining table resting in the centre of the room, whether for home-cooked evening meals or a board game brought from home.

Enjoy the warmth from the underfloor heating beneath the original slate kitchen floor as you rustle up some tasty dishes with the electric oven with built-in microwave function and electric hob among the appliances.

Whilst heading up the oak staircase can bring you to the washer/dryer machine hidden away in the first-floor landing cupboard, great for longer stays, providing the facility to wash and dry clothing.

Retire to the beautiful king-size bedroom on the first floor, with its own en-suite bathroom featuring mood lighting and a mirror with bluetooth connection so you can listen to some soothing songs while you take a relaxing soak in the tub.

With Smart TV in this room and the second bedroom too, you can enjoy slow mornings beneath the covers watching your favourite shows.

Up on the second floor is the second bedroom featuring a fabulous super-king-size bed, the room features mood lighting, creating a relaxing ambiance with the convenience of an en-suite basin and WC too, this relaxing space has the benefit of three velux windows, offering lots of natural light and from which the picturesque village of Hawkshead can be viewed, this bedroom is served by the contemporary shower room on the first floor.

Sit out on the rear patio with seating offering a great place for evening drinks or alfresco dining, or head to one of the four village pubs, with The Red Lion Inn being just a stone's throw away, to delight in a local ale and delicious pub grub.

Begin exploring by setting off on a scenic walk right from your doorstep up to Tarn Hows, famously one of the best views in the Lake District, it's a charming route following through woodland and open countryside, rewarding you with stunning views across the Lakes.

Visit Go Ape at Grizedale Forest for a day of thrills and adventure, with a treetop rope course and zip wires at 40 feet in the air, you can get a birdseye view of the amazing landscape, or for a more relaxed activity simply explore the pretty woodland trails spotting all 50 sculptures which are dotted throughout the forest!

Heading just outside of Ambleside you will find Brockhole Visitors Centre where you can enjoy treetop trek and nets, mini golf, archery, laser clay shooting, boat hire or simply relax and sample Cumbrian cooking at its best in the café, offering table service from the terrace which provides spectacular views overlooking Lake Windermere.

Beatrix Potter's former home, the National Trust's Hill Top, rests close by and is a quaint farmhouse still filled with the writer's furnishings and favourite things, almost as though she had just stepped out for a walk; it's a great place to visit for any fans of her fantastic children's books.

Visit all the hot spots of the Lake District by travelling along England's largest lake, Windermere, with boat ferries bringing you to the various waterside towns and villages; find Ambleside bursting with heritage including the Ambleside Roman Fort, head to Bowness-on-Windermere for The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, and marvel at the amazing creatures in the Lakes Aquarium in Lakeside.The market town of Keswick within the Lake District National Park is just over 40 minutes drive from Hawkshead, it is surrounded by mountains like Skiddaw with the beautiful Derwent Water close to the town centre.

If mountain climbing is not for you then The Cumberland Pencil Museum documents the history of pencils and the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery will tease your creative side!

A similar distance drive away can be found the market town of Kendal, famous for its Mint cake.

Kendal offers a weekly outdoor market and daily indoor market where many local delights can be sampled and purchased.

Kendal’s grey limestone buildings have earned it the nickname ‘Auld Grey Town’ If you enjoy browsing around museums, Kendal museum which was founded in 1796 includes collections of local archaeology, history, geology and natural history from around the globe.

For those with an interest in taxidermy, the museum hosts a collection which features a stuffed polar bear and a model of a dodo. Make wonderful holiday memories in the Lakes at Jessamine Cottage.

About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 4 miles; Kendal 24 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.

Note: There is off-road parking in front of the property for one car, however guests should be warned that that access is very narrow into the cobbled yard and space to manoeuvre can be limited at times, therefore for guest convenience one parking permit for parking in the central village car park is provided, a 2 minute walk away from Jessamine Cottage. Guests need to assess whether their vehicle can safely fit through the entrance into Red Lion Yard, this is the responsibility of the guest.

It is the responsibility of the guests to leave the parking permit in the property as they vacate. Unfortunately a failure to do this could incur a considerable cost which will be passed onto guests.
